Honor Magic 8 Ultra will be equipped with OmniVision OV50R camera

Honor is preparing to release the Magic 8 lineup, including the Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Mini and Magic 8 Ultra models. The first two devices will debut in China as early as the end of October, while the Mini and Ultra are expected in the first half of 2026.
Honor is expecting the Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Mini and Magic 8 Ultra to debut in China in late October.
According to a fresh leak by insider Digital Chat Station, the Honor Magic 8 Ultra will be the first smartphone to feature the new 50MP OmniVision OV50R sensor. Mass production of this camera will start in the first quarter of 2026.

The sensor will get a large 1/1.3-inch size with 1.2µm pixels and Quad Phase Detection (QPD) technology for faster and more accurate autofocus. It also supports the latest LOFIC technology with up to 110dB dynamic range, 4K HDR shooting with triple channel and 10/12/14 bit RAW output. In addition, it is claimed to support DAG HDR and reduce power consumption by 20% compared to the OV50K.

In addition to the main sensor, the Magic 8 Ultra will get an ultra-wide-angle module and a 200MP Samsung HP9 periscopic telephoto lens with 4.3-7x optical zoom.
Although other specs are yet to be revealed, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, just like the Magic 8/8 Pro. The latter are likely to hit the global market, but the Ultra’s fate outside of China remains unknown for now.
