Google is testing MediaTek’s modem for the Pixel 11 with the new Tensor G6 chip

It’s worth noting that the latest generations of Exynos modems (Pixel 9 and 10) have already solved key overheating issues, so a switch to MediaTek would mean a further shift by Google away from Samsung’s technology.

As for the Tensor G6 itself, its internal codename is — Malibu. Earlier leaks pointed to the use of TSMC’s 3nm process (N3P) with a 1+6 core configuration, but rumors surfaced in the summer of 2025 that Google plans to go straight to a 2nm process.
