Galaxy smartphones will get 3D shooting feature for Samsung’s Android XR helmet

Samsung is gearing up to launch its first XR helmet, codenamed Project Moohan. Amid those plans, Galaxy smartphones have a new feature —shooting spatial photos and videos that can be viewed in the headset.
How the feature works
SamMobile journalists have spotted a new option in the Camera Assistant (Good Lock module) app «3D Capture». When activated, a button appears in the camera’s interface that lets you create photos and videos with extra depth for playback in an XR environment.
The feature became available in Camera Assistant 4.0.0.3, but only works on the Galaxy S25 Ultra for now. On other models, including the Galaxy S25 FE, the updated app is already available, but the «3D Capture» setting itself is not activated.
Analogy with Apple Vision Pro
The integration of filming features with the XR headset is no surprise: Apple has implemented a similar feature for the iPhone and Vision Pro. In the case of Samsung, the surprise is that the novelty is hidden in a separate Camera Assistant app, rather than built into the standard camera app. This is not uncommon for the company — previously, important features also appeared through Good Lock and were later moved to the main services.
