YouTube unveiled new tools for content creators

In celebration of Made on YouTube, the company announced a number of updates aimed at growing the creator community and empowering creators. The focus is on simplifying live streaming, new collaboration formats and additional monetization tools.

New Streaming Opportunities

Now aspiring streamers will be able to rehearse broadcasts with a special tool, checking image and sound quality before going live. YouTube is also launching Playables on Live — a library of more than 75 games that can be launched right during a broadcast and interact with the audience in real time.

Another feature that YouTube is launching is the Playables on Live feature.

The platform has also added the ability to simultaneously broadcast in both horizontal and vertical formats. This will use a unified chat room that allows creators to communicate with viewers regardless of which version of the broadcast they are watching.

Reaction-formatted content and new AI tools

Creators will be able to easily launch their own broadcasts with reactions to other users’ live broadcasts. All control is available in a single app, making it easy.

An AI tool is being introduced that automatically highlights the best moments from the broadcast and allows you to quickly publish them to Shorts. This is especially helpful for first-time writers who previously had to do the slicing manually.

Monetization without interruptions

YouTube has proposed a new ad format — side-by-side ads. Such ads are displayed alongside content without interrupting the broadcast. In addition, creators with paid subscriptions will be able to switch broadcasts from public to members-only mode without losing viewers.

What this means for authors

In a highly competitive landscape for content creators in 2025, YouTube offers a suite of solutions to make it easier to get started and grow your audience. From rehearsal broadcasts and game streams to user-friendly AI tools and new monetization formats — the platform is committed to giving creators maximum opportunity to grow.
