Google has reduced the limits of free access to Gemini 3 due to high demand
Google has reduced daily usage limits for Gemini 3 models for free account holders. The load has grown since the system’s official release, and access to Gemini features for those users has now been moved to Basic mode.
Gemini 3 was released earlier this month and immediately became available in search, mobile apps and other services. Initially, free accounts could send up to 5 text queries per day and generate up to 3 images using Nano Banana Pro. However, after the surge in load, Google updated the help page: the limits for the free tier are now “subject to change frequently” depending on server utilization. For Nano Banana Pro, the daily limit has been lowered to 2 images. The company notes that demand for generating and editing images remains high.

How the limits have changed for different plans

Google AI Pro users still get up to 100 requests per day in the Gemini app, while Ultra subscribers get up to 500. For Nano Banana Pro, the limit is 100 and 1,000 images, respectively. NotebookLM has also changed: access to Infographics and Slide Decks on Nano Banana Pro is temporarily disabled for free users, and additional restrictions apply for Pro users.
What Subscription Offers
Google plans to restore the previous limits for the Gemini 3 Pro after load shedding, but during the peak season before Christmas, that may not happen until early January. To access the unlimited model, the company is offering a $20-per-month Google AI Pro subscription. It includes priority access to the Gemini 3 Pro, 2 TB of cloud storage, family access, and other options. The $200-per-month AI Ultra plan is designed for heavy users.
