Hideaki Itsuno begins a new chapter in his career with LightSpeed Studios under the Tencent umbrella

Legendary developer Hideaki Itsuno, who worked at Capcom for more than 30 years, has taken the helm of a new project at Tencent-owned LightSpeed Japan Studio. Under his leadership, the studio will operate out of two offices in Tokyo and Osaka, with the primary goal of creating original AAA titles for a global audience.

Itsuno’s journey at Capcom and accomplishments
In his years at Capcom, Itsuno has been involved in the development of iconic games including Power Stone, Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5, and Dragon’s Dogma 1 and 2. His most recent work, Dragon’s Dogma 2, has received critical acclaim.

In August 2024, Itsuno announced his departure from Capcom. At the time, he noted, “Starting in September, I will begin working on a new game in a new environment. I hope to create games as memorable and inspiring as the ones I’ve made so far.”

Itsuno described joining LightSpeed Studios as an “inspiring new chapter.” He said that working with a team with strong capabilities and a global network will allow him to create innovative and high-quality game projects for players from around the world.
