Samsung will dramatically redesign the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup

According to recent leaks, Samsung is going to significantly change the look of its smartwatches with the release of the One UI 8 Watch shell. In 2025, the entire Galaxy Watch 8 lineup, including the basic, Classic, and Ultra versions, will switch to a new squircle-shaped case – something between a square and a circle. The display will remain round on all models, though.

What we know about the Galaxy Watch 8, Classic and Ultra

Based on the One UI 8 Watch firmware data that leaked online for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, Samsung is preparing three models: «fresh 8» (Galaxy Watch 8), «wise 8» (Watch 8 Classic) and «project X2» (Watch Ultra). All of them, judging by the animation files, will get the squircle design that was previously exclusive to the Watch Ultra.

Hardware features of the new models

Galaxy Watch 8 will feature two buttons on the right edge – just like the Watch 7.
The Classic model will likely get a third customizable button like the Watch Ultra, but without the orange accent.
The vibration motor will also be improved – the same as on the Ultra.

The firmware mentions S and L sizes for the Galaxy Watch 8, though there’s no exact details on the case dimensions yet. There’s less size information for the Classic case, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be two versions.
