Oppo Magnetic Energy Card Air unveiled: an ultra-thin powerbank with magnetic charging for

Yesterday was a busy day for Oppo, as the company unveiled flagship smartphones, a tablet, a smartwatch and… one discreet but very useful accessory – the Oppo Magnetic Energy Card Air. It’s an ultra-thin 5,000mAh magnetic powerbank that’s compatible with both new Oppo devices and iPhones.

A new player in the Mag ecosystem

Energy Card Air has become part of Oppo’s new “Mag” accessories lineup. It also includes the Magnetic Protective Case and Magnetic Dual Type-C Cable – all designed with a focus on the convenience of magnetic attachment, similar to Apple’s MagSafe.

The powerbank itself can be magnetically attached to the brand’s latest flagships – the Find X8s, X8s+, and X8 Ultra – to provide wireless charging without wires, bulkiness, or overheating.

Smart cooling and iPhone compatibility

To combat overheating, Oppo has used a special case with improved heat dissipation, and incorporated an NTC thermistor to actively monitor the temperature. This should noticeably reduce heating during charging.

One of the pleasant surprises was the cross-platform compatibility – the Magnetic Energy Card Air fits not only the Oppo, but also iPhones with MagSafe. So it’s a universal accessory that doesn’t tie the user to a single ecosystem.

Compact, clear and inexpensive

There’s a small four-dot LED indicator on the case that shows the charge level. There’s also a USB-C port: it supports up to 12W of input power, and gives up to 10W if you charge other devices directly – like headphones or a smartwatch.

Magnetic Energy Card Air will go on sale in China on April 16 for 149 yuan (about $20). With its compact size, iPhone support, and minimalist design, it’s an interesting solution for those who want to charge gadgets on the go without lugging around bulky batteries and wires.
