AOC has introduced a new 27-inch monitor Q27G4SP with 320 Hz frequency

AOC expands its lineup of high refresh rate gaming monitors with another 27-inch QHD model — and this time the bet is on maximum speed. The new Q27G4SP complements the already available Q27G4SMN, offering users the choice between different panel types with similar design and functionality.

The two monitors look almost identical, use the same stand, and have an identical set of ports. But it’s the type of matrix that makes them different. The Q27G4SMN features a Fast VA panel with Mini LED backlighting and 1,152 zones of local dimming for high contrast. The Q27G4SP, on the other hand, uses Fast IPS and raises the refresh rate to 320Hz, which is slightly but noticeably ahead of the 300Hz of the SMN version.

The move to IPS traditionally has its pros and cons. The user loses the deep blacks and spectacular HDR of the previous model — maximum brightness is 450 nits in HDR and 350 nits in SDR, and there’s no local dimming here. Color gamut — 95% DCI-P3, slightly less than the 97% of the SMN, but AOC claims accurate factory calibration with a ΔE of less than 2. In return, IPS offers wide viewing angles and a 1ms GtG response time, which is suitable for cyber-sport games.

There are no changes in terms of ergonomics: tilt, swivel, 130mm height adjustment and pivoting to portrait mode are supported. The stand can also be replaced with a VESA mount. Ports available include two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4 and audio output.

The bottom line is that the Q27G4SP is aimed at those who value maximum motion clarity and wide viewing angles, while the Q27G4SMN remains a more «cinematic» option with a focus on contrast and HDR.

Price and release date have not yet been revealed, but once AOC provides that data, buyers will be able to more accurately determine which 27-inch G4 series model is better suited to their needs.
