Production of Lada Iskra started in St. Petersburg

Serial production of Lada Iskra cars has been launched at «Avtozavod St. Petersburg» (former Nissan site). The first cars have already been shipped to the Lada dealer network, AvtoVAZ said on Sept.

The plant’s general director, Ivan Mironov, said: «In a short period of time, we have modernized technological equipment, including on the main conveyor, built logistics chains and trained production personnel»

Assembly Details and Logistics

The St. Petersburg assembly line assembles all versions of the model, except for the base model. According to AvtoVAZ, the cars produced in St. Petersburg and Togliatti are technically and visually identical.

At this stage of the project, Lada Iskra assembly kits are arriving in St. Petersburg. They include the painted body, powertrain, interior elements, chassis and other components — about a thousand units in total. On the assembly line, operations are performed to install noise insulation, instrument panel, seat belts, ESP, interior upholstery and trunk. Engine and front suspension subassembly, installation of bumpers, wheels and moldings are also performed.

What is the Lada Iskra

Lada Iskra belongs to the compact segment B. The lineup includes three versions: a sedan, a station wagon and a cross-country station wagon.
