Yandex's UMO 5 electric car was spotted in a Moscow parking lot without camouflage

Yandex’s new UMO 5 electric car without camouflage elements was photographed in the capital for the first time. The car has already received vehicle type approval and is ready to go into production at the Moskvich plant.

The electric car was discovered in an underground parking lot in Moscow. Only the logo of the Chinese manufacturer on the steering wheel is hidden from prying eyes – the rest of the details are open to view. December 2025 brought information about Yandex’s intentions to enter the electric transportation market with its own model.

Technical characteristics and origin of the model

UMO 5 is a rebranded version of the GAC Aion Y Plus cross hatchback. The electric car gets a front-wheel-drive layout with a 204 horsepower engine. It has a claimed range of 430 kilometers on a full battery charge.

Production will be launched at the Moskvich plant with the participation of EVM. The documentation for the vehicle has passed type approval, paving the way for mass production and sales.
