OnePlus has unveiled OxygenOS 16 — a new version of its proprietary shell built on the «Intelligently yours» philosophy. The update emphasizes the development of artificial intelligence and brings the most advanced features in OnePlus history. At the heart of the new system is Plus Mind — a personal intelligence that analyzes the user’s actions and organizes data in the Mind Space. This section serves as a kind of personal information and content management center.

Plus Mind is able to understand the context of saved content and supports the creation of long screenshots, fully saving the necessary fragments in Mind Space. OxygenOS 16 also brings integration with Google Gemini — the assistant can now access data from Mind Space and use it for personalized advice and decisions. For example, you can ask Gemini to create an interior design plan based on saved ideas and images.

The update also expands the capabilities of the AI Productivity Suite of tools. AI Writer can now create mind maps, graphics, and captions for social media, and AI Scan turns documents into editable PDFs. For photo and video enthusiasts, there are AI Portrait Glow, which enhances portraits, and AI Perfect Shot, which optimizes shots. You can also test out experimental tools like the YumSee image generator and Party Up, which turns photos into short videos, in the AI PlayLab section.

The interface is now visually softer — with rounded elements and transparent panels.

Security has been emphasized, with the Private Computing Cloud feature that keeps data secure while it’s being processed by the processor and video chip.

On OnePlus tablets, the system will offer scalable icons, an 18-app dock, and an improved Open Canvas that lets you use up to five apps at once. Support for virtual trackpad and drag-and-drop between devices has also been added.

The «Photos» app gets built-in video editing tools &#8212 you can crop clips, add music, text and create MotionPhotos.

The first device to come preloaded with OxygenOS 16 will be the OnePlus 15, which will premiere on October 27 in China. The update will be available for the company’s other models later. The new flagship will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S26 and iPhone 17, while OxygenOS 16 itself will be OnePlus’ answer to iOS 26.
