Xiaomi unveiled the S40 Pro robot vacuum cleaner with powerful traction and improved washing system
Xiaomi has quietly released a new robot vacuum cleaner — Robot Vacuum S40 Pro. It’s a marked improvement over the regular S40 model, which appeared just a few weeks ago. In fact, the S40 Pro is designed for those who want near-flagship cleaning quality without overpaying for the top-of-the-line segment.
The main metric Xiaomi is banking on is — suction power. In the S40 Pro, it reaches 15,000 Pa, which is a serious increase from the 10,000 Pa of the standard version of the S40. The device still features a center brush to prevent hair from winding up and a side brush for cleaning along walls, but the best part starts when you wet clean.
The best part of the S40 Pro is that it has a center brush that prevents hair from winding up and a side brush for cleaning along walls, but the best part starts when you wet clean.
In place of a simple floor wipe, the S40 Pro uses two rotating mops that operate at speeds up to 180 rpm. One of the mops is mounted on a retractable mechanical arm, which allows the device to reach into corners and along walls — areas that many robot vacuums barely touch. If there are carpets in the home, the vacuum automatically lifts the mops to avoid getting the fabric wet. Three water delivery levels are also available to customize the intensity of the wash.
Navigation is based on an LDS laser combined with a structured light sensor that helps detect obstacles in a wide 129-degree sector. According to Xiaomi, a single charge is enough to clean about 180m², which is suitable for most apartments and small homes. Control is via the Xiaomi Home app, with maps, schedules, cleaning zones and other settings. The Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants are also supported.
Xiaomi has already started selling the S40 Pro in Europe. In the Netherlands, the price is €279, and in Spain, France and Germany — €299.99. In the UK, the novelty costs £259.99.
