Apple is preparing a Health+ subscription with AI doctor and nutrition tracking

Apple could introduce a new Health+ subscription service in 2026. According to Bloomberg, the service will combine an AI doctor, nutrition tracking, and educational videos, becoming part of the Apple One lineup.

Apple is entering the digital health market

Apple already has subscriptions for entertainment, cloud storage and fitness, but the company has yet to monetize health directly. While the App Store is full of third-party services for meditation, calorie counting, and health tips, Apple doesn’t have a solution of its own.

This could change in 2026, with the responsibilities formerly held by chief operating officer Jeff Williams being handed over to head of services Eddy Cue. This is seen as a signal of the company’s readiness to take Health+ to market.

Health+ will reportedly be a comprehensive platform built into the Health app. Right now, it collects data from the Apple Watch and accessories like smart scales and bottles, and users have to manually enter metrics. Third-party programs like Foodnoms and Waterminder simplify the process, but require access to sensitive information.

AI assistant and new features in the Health app

Apple is rumored to be integrating features from third-party solutions directly into its ecosystem. Plans include an AI assistant that acts as a “doctor consultant,” built-in calorie counting, and educational health videos.

It wasn’t previously clear if this would become a separate paid option, but Bloomberg says: Apple plans to make Health+ a subscription service. Integration with the Apple One suite is a possibility.

The main goal is to add value to users’ accumulated data. Right now, Apple Health stores huge amounts of information, but doesn’t always help interpret it. Implementing on-device analytics with Apple Intelligence should make the system safer and more useful without transferring data to external apps.

Market Impact and Possible Pricing

The new subscription could be a challenge for third-party apps specializing in health, though many will retain an audience due to the expanded functionality. Analysts suggest that Health+ could be priced comparable to other services in the industry, ranging from $40 to $100 a year.

Apple is expected to introduce Health+ in 2026. The announcement is likely to take place in the spring, at the same time as a revamped Siri based on Apple’s large language model, Apple Intelligence.
