Figma integrates Google Gemini into its tools for designers

Design platform Figma has announced a partnership with Google to bring additional artificial intelligence features. While Figma has previously built its own AI-powered tools for app development, the new integration will add several Google Gemini models to the product to, as the company notes, «meet the growing needs of designers and their teams». The partnership will bring the Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0 and Imagen 4 models into Figma. At the same time, Figma will retain its existing partnership with Google Cloud. The Gemini 2.5 Flash model will become part of Figma’s image editing and picture generation process. This will allow the 13 million monthly active users to create images by text query and make edits quickly with AI. According to the company, testing of Gemini 2.5 Flash showed a 50 percent reduction in latency when using «Make Image», speeding up designers’ workflows. This partnership — is one of many among leading artificial intelligence developers looking to integrate their models into popular apps with broad audiences to strengthen their market position. For example, OpenAI announced this week that ChatGPT users can now interact with apps right inside chat — including Spotify, Booking.com, Expedia, Coursera, Zillow, Canva and others. Figma is also included in that list, suggesting that the agreement with Google is not exclusive. The news of Figma’s partnership with Google coincided with the unveiling of Gemini Enterprise — a new artificial intelligence-based platform aimed at enterprise customers. It will allow users to communicate with corporate documents, data and applications, while engineers will be able to create and deploy their own AI agents or use off-the-shelf solutions. Gemini Enterprise — a new AI-based platform for enterprise customers. Google is positioning these initiatives as a way to improve efficiency and simplify workflows — something companies are willing to pay for, especially in an environment where it’s the mass adoption of AI platforms that is driving the bulk of revenue. To emphasize the scale of adoption, Google noted that 65% of Google Cloud customers are already using the company’s AI products. In addition to the Figma deal, Google also announced AI partnerships with GAP, Gordon Foods, Klarna, Macquarie Bank, Melexis, Mercedes, Signal Iduna, Valiuz and Virgin Voyages. Existing partners already utilizing Gemini’s technology include — Banco BV, Behr, Box, DBS Bank, Deloitte, Deutsche Telekom, FairPrice Group, U.S. Department of Energy and others.
