Xiaomi 17 outperforms iPhone 17 in battery life test

In a new video, Xiaomi demonstrates why consumers should favor their new Xiaomi 17 over the iPhone 17. The Chinese manufacturer has done a direct comparison of the top devices, with a particular focus on battery life.

iPhone 17 has a 3,692mAh battery, while Xiaomi 17 boasts a 7,000mAh battery. Interestingly, the physical dimensions of the smartphones are almost identical, as is the size of the displays – 6.3 inches. To create a level playing field, a 5,000mAh external MagSafe battery was added to the iPhone. Theoretically, the total capacity even exceeded that of the competitor – 8,692 mAh versus 7,000 mAh. At first glance, the advantage is clearly on the iPhone’s side.

In reality, however, things turned out differently. The smartphones were tested with the same parameters: brightness was set to 150 nits, airplane mode was enabled, and users were continuously viewing images on a social network. After 5.5 hours, the iPhone required external recharging, and it completely discharged after 12 hours and 14 minutes. The Xiaomi 17, meanwhile, retained 26% of its charge, and testing could continue.

It’s important to note that wireless charging loses some power, so directly summing the battery capacity of the phone and external battery isn’t quite right. However, that doesn’t diminish the Xiaomi 17’s significant advantage in terms of battery life.
