Xiaomi 17: similarities with the iPhone 17 are becoming more and more noticeable

Xiaomi is preparing to unveil a new generation of flagship smartphones. Instead of the expected Xiaomi 16 series, the company has decided to release the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which many analysts believe is clearly inspired by the latest iPhones 17.
HyperOS 3 and «superstars»
Apple first introduced Dynamic Island in the iPhone 14 in 2022. The idea was later picked up by Oppo, OnePlus and Samsung. Now it’s Xiaomi’s turn: HyperOS 3 will feature a counterpart called Xiaomi Super Island.
The feature supports multitasking in small windows and up to three active «islands» simultaneously. Even the name echoes Apple, emphasizing where the company drew its ideas from.

Liquid Glass on HyperOS 3
Another possible «borrowed» detail — design&#nbsp;Liquid Glass, first shown in iOS 26. It’s gotten mixed reactions, reminding many of the Windows Vista style.

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: the name speaks for itself
The most obvious similarities are not even related to the interface, but to the name. Instead of the supposed Xiaomi 16 Pro Max the company has announced the release of models Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
The Pro Max name seems to be a direct response to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. What’s more, leaks mention a dual screen in the older version of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max — a move that clearly shows ambitions to compete with Apple in the premium segment.
