Samsung has started teasering the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra

After prolonged rumors and expectations, Samsung has finally unveiled the first official teaser of the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra device. The new device will debut later this year alongside the base model Z Fold7, as well as the Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE clamshells. According to insiders, all the new products will be shown at an in-person event in New York City in early July.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra teaser emphasizes an incredibly thin body. How thin is still unknown, but Samsung says it will be thinner than the current Z Fold6 (5.6mm when unfolded) and even thinner than the Z Fold Special Edition, which is 4.9mm. The company also says the device will get a “best-in-class” camera – a bold claim given the high bar set by the vivo X Fold3 Pro.

The introduction of the Ultra was a logical evolution of the series. It was originally expected to come out with the sixth-generation Fold, but then Samsung limited itself to releasing the Fold Special Edition (aka Samsung W25 in China) last fall. That device got larger 8-inch main and 6.5-inch outer displays, a 200-megapixel main camera, 16GB of RAM, and a record-thin body – just 4.9mm when unveiled.
Z Fold7 Ultra appears to be an evolution of this very concept: premium materials, improved performance, and maximum compactness. We’ll have to wait for the official unveiling to see if it lives up to the high level of expectation and sets a new standard for folding flagships.
