Oppo has released a magnetic powerbank with iPhone support

At the backdrop of high-profile announcements of new flagship smartphones, tablet and smart watches, Oppo has unveiled another device that is less visible but quite useful – the ultra-thin Magnetic Energy Card Air magnetic powerbank. It supports not only Oppo smartphones, but also iPhones, offering convenient wireless charging in a “magnetic card” format.

The new product will go on sale in China on April 16 for 149 yuan (roughly $20), and it’s already clear that this could be a great accessory for Oppo users and iPhone owners alike.

Miniature design and cross-platform compatibility

The Magnetic Energy Card Air is part of Oppo’s new line of accessories called Mag, which also includes a magnetic protective case and Magnetic Dual Type-C cable. They’re all aimed at the fast-growing ecosystem of magnetically attached devices – similar to Apple’s MagSafe, but in Oppo’s version.

Magnetic Energy Card Air is the latest in a series of accessories for the fast-growing ecosystem of magnetically attached devices.

The device features a 5,000mAh battery and attaches to the back of a smartphone with a built-in magnet. It supports the latest Oppo models, including the Find X8s, X8s+ and X8 Ultra. But most importantly, the accessory is also compatible with iPhones, making it a universal solution regardless of brand.

This approach sets the Magnetic Energy Card Air apart from most magnetic chargers that operate strictly within a single brand. Users can charge their devices wirelessly without unnecessary wires or bulky powerbanks – just hold it up to their smartphone.

Smart thermal management and USB-C wired charging

To avoid overheating, the case uses a new heat-resistant material and active temperature control based on an NTC resistor. Oppo claims this helps to “significantly reduce heating” during charging and makes it safer to use.

The case features a four-dot LED indicator to show the charge level. There’s also a USB-C port that lets you both charge the Powerbank itself (with up to 12W of power) and use it as a power source for other devices, like headphones or a smart watch, with up to 10W of power output.

The compact size and light weight make the Oppo Magnetic Energy Card Air ideal for everyday use: you can carry it in your pocket or bag without inconvenience. And its versatility makes it especially attractive to users who don’t want to be confined to a single vendor ecosystem.
