Samsung has postponed the release date of Project Moohan XR headset – when to expect it on sale

Samsung has changed the release date of its XR (Extended Reality) codenamed Project Moohan headset, which will be a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro. The device will be officially unveiled October 21, and sales will begin almost immediately after the announcement. It was originally scheduled to launch on September 29, but the company decided to conduct additional quality checks and adjust its marketing strategy.
Pricing and limited launch strategy
According to reports, Project Moohan will cost around $2000 — noticeably cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro with a price tag of $3499, but still too expensive for the masses. What’s more, Samsung views the headset as anexperimental product and plans to release only 100,000 units, while Apple’s goal was to sell a million Vision Pro units (and failed to meet it).
The company intends to gauge user interest in XR devices before actively investing in the development of full-fledged AR glasses.

Project Moohan hardware specs
- Micro OLED displays with a higher resolution than the Vision Pro (about 3800 PPI);
- 16GB of RAM
- the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset
While Project Moohan will run on Android XR, which will offer more content at launch compared to Apple’s device.
Emphasis on comfort
One of the main drawbacks of the Apple Vision Pro has been cited by users as being uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. Samsung emphasized that Project Moohan was designed with a focus on ergonomics and comfort.
But the headset’s release will be limited: the device will only be available in a few regions, and only if demand is high will Samsung expand the geography of sales.
