Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 have started receiving Android 16

Samsung has released a stable One UI 8 update based on Android 16 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable smartphones. The firmware is already available in South Korea for beta program members, and the OTA version will become available to all users in the coming days.
The update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 comes less than a week after the company updated the Galaxy S25 series to Android 16. Stable firmware should be coming soon for the Galaxy S24 as well.
What’s new in One UI 8 for foldable models
Owners of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are getting the firmware labeled YCHC. Its size is — about 600MB for those who participated in the beta testing, and about 4GB for the rest of the users.
- September security patch (dated September 1);
- bug fixes;
- optimization of the system.
You can download the firmware from the menu «Settings» → «Software Update» → «Download and Install».
Expand to other devices
Since the Galaxy S24 is built on the same hardware solutions as the foldable 2024 models, the One UI 8 update for the series is expected as soon as this week.
Samsung had originally planned to start rolling out Android 16 for the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 only in October. However, the company is once again overtaking its own schedule by releasing the updates ahead of schedule.
Samsung’s leadership in updates
Samsung is now the only brand that has already updated its 2025 flagship to Android 16 and has begun rolling out the same version of the system to previous-generation models. The rapid launch of One UI 8 strengthens the company’s position in the Android device segment and partially makes up for the delayed One UI 7 release earlier this year.
