OxygenOS 16 has improved animations for system apps, home screen icons, widgets, folders, and the smart sidebar. The magnifying glass for highlighting text now appears and disappears smoothly, the status bar moves smoothly when opening the notification panel and quick settings, and users can interrupt the gesture at any time. Charging and fingerprint scanning animations are enhanced with light waves, and scrolling and transitions between apps are faster and more responsive.

The updated Trinity Engine manages performance and power consumption more efficiently. It optimizes resources while you play games, watch videos, and use the camera. Photo albums load faster and use less power, cached videos and thumbnails open faster. Power Saving Mode now adjusts performance by level based on battery life for better battery life.

Artificial intelligence features have been expanded as part of “OnePlus AI.” Mind Space now has a Mind Assistant that can search for saved content. Photos have been redesigned with clearer categories and simplified navigation. Users can edit videos by trimming, merging, adjusting playback speed, adding transitions and background music. Notes now supports block editing, text selection, link sharing and improved formatting features. The Recorder app gets a clearer interface, AI-powered noise reduction, and automatic templates for meetings and lectures. AI Writer helps you create content for social media posts, notes, or summaries, and AI VoiceScribe generates context-sensitive summaries of calls.

The new visual interface includes the Flux home screen with light-field effects, dynamic wallpaper, and an updated layout. There is a new One Serif font and Aurora visual effects that improve readability and depth.

OxygenOS 16 also adds improved cross-device functionality with O+ Connect that lets you search for files on your phone and PC, improved Bluetooth pairing in the car, and a “My Devices” section in Quick Settings to manage connected gadgets. Other new features include an AI-powered document scanner, customizable quick settings, improved Wi-Fi stability and enhanced privacy settings. The update is already available to users in India and will be rolled out to other regions soon.
