Amid growing interest in humanoid robotics, the company has spoken in advance about its new home assistant, with a full-fledged announcement to be made in January. LG says the CLOiD features two movable arms with five independently controllable fingers on each, which should allow it to perform a variety of household tasks. However, the company hasn’t yet given specific examples of exactly what the robot will be able to handle. LG has shown only a few close-up images of the arms, promising to reveal the full design at the show. The company notes that CLOiD is part of the concept «A home without labor — more time to live». The idea is to free users from mundane and time-consuming household chores. The idea is to free users from routine and time-consuming household chores. The robot’s computing platform is housed in its head, which also houses a display, speaker, camera and a set of sensors to enable human interaction. CLOiD is powered by LG’s proprietary technology called «Affectionate Intelligence» — it involves friendly, neutral communication with the user and the ability to improve the robot’s responses as it gains experience with the interaction.
