Vivo has unveiled the Y500i smartphone in China, the third model in the Y500 lineup launched in 2024. The device is aimed at buyers who value autonomy, large storage and stable performance on fifth-generation networks.

The smartphone features a 6.75-inch screen with a liquid crystal matrix, a resolution of 1570×720 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. The aspect ratio is 19.6:9, the display area occupies 90.60 percent of the front panel, and the contrast ratio reaches 1,500:1.

Processor and memory

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset is responsible for the performance. The manufacturer offers two RAM options – 8 and 12 gigabytes. The younger version uses the LPDDR5X standard, while the older version uses LPDDR4X. Built-in memory is presented in three variants – 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes – all made with UFS 3.1 technology. Memory expansion technology allows you to add up to 8 or 12 gigabytes of virtual RAM, depending on the base configuration.

Battery and software

The main feature of the model is a 7,200 milliamp-hour lithium-ion battery with 44 watts of fast charging support. The system is built on a single cell. The smartphone runs OriginOS 6, which is likely based on Android 16.

Cameras and connectivity

The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.2. On the rear side, there’s a single 50-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. Among the wireless interfaces – dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with support for several satellite systems. There’s a USB Type-C port, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, an infrared port, and a basic set of sensors.

Protection and Dimensions

The body is IP68/69 compliant – the device is protected against dust and water. The Vivo Y500i has passed SGS certification with a gold mark for five-star drop and shock resistance. The dimensions are 166.64×78.43×8.49 millimeters, and it weighs about 219 grams.

Price and affordability

The Vivo Y500i goes on sale in China in three colors: Galaxy Silver, Obsidian Black and Phoenix Gold. Five configurations are available: 8+128, 8+256, 8+512, 12+256, and 12+512 gigabytes. Pricing starts at 1,499 yuan (about $210) and goes up to 2,199 yuan (about $315) for the top-of-the-line version.
