Take-Two denies rumors that GTA 6 will launch without physical copies

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has dismissed rumors suggesting that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch exclusively as a digital-only release, with no physical versions available at launch. These claims surfaced last month, speculating that Rockstar might delay the disc release to prevent leaks.

According to those reports, the physical edition of GTA 6 could either arrive weeks after the digital launch or be pushed all the way to early 2027. However, in a recent interview with Variety, Zelnick clearly stated that this scenario isn’t on the table. When asked about a possible delay of the physical release, he said, “That is not in our plans.”

Alongside addressing the rumors, Take-Two shared fresh financial updates, revealing that GTA 5 has sold over 225 million copies-an impressive milestone for a nearly 13-year-old title. They also confirmed that the marketing campaign for GTA 6 is set to kick off this summer.

In a conversation with IGN, Zelnick emphasized that the start of active marketing signals the publisher’s strong confidence in meeting the current release timeline. He explained that moving into the promotional phase means the chances of another delay are minimal.

As of now, Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The game has already seen two delays: it was first pushed from fall 2025 to May 2026, and then again to November 2026.
