Motorola Razr (2024) gets Android 16 update

Motorola has started rolling out the Android 16 update for its Razr 2024 smartphone, also known as the Razr 50. While the company had already updated many compatible devices, this model had been waiting for the new OS version until recently.

The update surfaced in Canada and is labeled with the firmware version W1UX36H.72-45-4. The download weighs in at around 2GB. Android 16 marks the second major operating system upgrade for the Razr 2024. The device will receive one more Android update in the future, after which it will only get security patches.

Currently available in Canada, the update is expected to roll out to other regions soon. To check for the update, go to Settings → System updates. Before installing, make sure your device has enough free space and at least 40% battery charge.

After updating, users will notice several system improvements. Android 16 consolidates the “Do Not Disturb,” “Bedtime Mode,” and “Driving Mode” settings into a single unified section. It also introduces the ability to create custom modes with personalized notification settings, which can be toggled on and off via the quick settings panel.

Connecting to Wi-Fi networks and mobile hotspots has been simplified. If both devices are signed in to the same Google account, connecting to a hotspot no longer requires entering a password.

Android 16 enhances support for low-power hearing aids. Users can now choose which microphone to use during calls-the phone’s or the hearing aid’s-and adjust ambient sound levels to improve speech clarity.

Beyond the new features, the update includes security enhancements, improved compatibility with modern apps, performance optimizations, bug fixes, and overall system stability improvements.
