On December 25, Xiaomi is likely to unveil more than just the flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone. According to recent reports, the company may announce the Xiaomi Watch 5 smart watch and the Xiaomi Buds 6 wireless headphones on the same day.

Although the Xiaomi Watch 5 doesn’t have the Ultra prefix in its name, the new product looks like a truly premium device. The watch will reportedly be the first in Xiaomi’s lineup with an EMG (electromyography) sensor designed to track and analyze muscle activity. Such a sensor detects weak electrical signals that occur during muscle contraction and relaxation. The EMG sensor is expected to work in conjunction with an ECG sensor to provide more detailed data on the state of the cardiovascular system.
Modern wearable devices are increasingly moving beyond just tracking workouts. The emphasis is on analyzing health in greater depth and providing useful information about the body’s condition, and the Xiaomi Watch 5 appears to fit right into this trend, according to leaks.
As a hardware platform, the watch is rumored to get a Snapdragon W5 processor with a quad-core CPU on Cortex-A53 architecture. This chip is expected to deliver stable and smooth performance without slowdowns.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is also expected to feature sapphire crystal on both sides, a forged stainless steel case and three band options, allowing users to customize the look of the watch to suit their preferences.
