One retailer has finally leaked images of the Sony WF-1000XM6 wireless earbuds. The much-anticipated follow-up to the WF-1000XM5 appears in two color options and is expected to launch as soon as February. This new model features a completely revamped design along with an updated charging case.
It looks like Sony’s WF-1000XM6 could drop this month. After months of leaks and rumors, Thai retailer Power Buy posted official-looking images of the new flagship earbuds on its website, showcasing the device in black and silver finishes. Insider Roland Quandt also mentioned that a third color variant is in the works.
Unfortunately, Power Buy didn’t share any detailed specs for the WF-1000XM6. However, the listing confirmed that the new buds will keep active noise cancellation (ANC) and the Ambient mode. They will also retain the IPX4 water resistance rating from the WF-1000XM5. Meanwhile, the sixth generation of Sony’s WF-1000X lineup sports a completely refreshed look.
From the images, the WF-1000XM6 earbuds seem to have a more elongated, capsule-shaped silhouette compared to the XM5s. The charging case also got a redesign: it’s now narrower and, at first glance, less ergonomic than the rounded case of the previous generation.
Sony has also moved away from glossy plastic in favor of a matte finish. Another noticeable change is the additional microphone array – each earbud appears to have three external mics, regardless of color. Pricing-wise, the WF-1000XM6 is expected to launch in Europe at €299.99 and in the US at $329.99.
