Google has started rolling out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update for compatible Pixel smartphones and simultaneously confirmed that the first beta of Android 17 is coming soon.
In a post on Reddit, Google announced that Android 17 Beta 1 will be available to users shortly, bringing bug fixes along with performance and overall stability improvements. Members of the Android Beta program will receive the update automatically once it starts rolling out.
According to last year’s intel, Android 17 carries the internal codename Cinnamon Bun. Users who don’t plan on installing the Android 17 beta are advised to leave the beta program now. To do this without losing any data, you should opt out of the program, skip the update labeled “Downgrade,” and wait for the stable public release of Android 16 QPR3.
If you install the Android 17 beta but later decide to leave the beta program without performing a device reset, you’ll need to wait until the entire testing cycle wraps up, which is expected around June.
The stable version of Android 17 is tentatively scheduled for release in Q2 2026. This update promises a range of enhancements, new gaming features, and additional system refinements.
