Lexar launches automotive USB drives JumpDrive A50V and C50V with up to 1TB for dashcams

Lexar has unveiled updated versions of its automotive USB drives, the JumpDrive A50V and C50V, now offering maximum capacities of 512GB and 1TB. This expanded lineup targets drivers needing extended video recording for dashcams and vehicle security systems. According to Lexar, the 1TB model can store up to 96 hours of footage from four cameras in Li Auto vehicles.

The JumpDrive A50V features a USB-A connector, while the C50V uses USB-C. Both drives support USB 3.2 Gen 1 and deliver read and write speeds up to 200MB/s. Equipped with high-quality TLC NAND flash memory, these drives are built for durability and can withstand heavy rewrite cycles over prolonged use.

Lexar highlights that these drives are designed for continuous, 24/7 cyclic recording. When storage is full, older files are automatically overwritten, making them well-suited for dashcams and vehicle security modes in electric and connected cars. The drives come preformatted with exFAT but can be reformatted to FAT32 or NTFS if needed.

The JumpDrive C50V measures 28.8 x 22.5 x 16.23 mm and weighs 13.5 grams, while the A50V with USB-A is slightly smaller at 22.5 x 14.9 x 20.25 mm and 6.2 grams. Both models are engineered to operate under harsh in-car conditions, with a temperature range from -40 °C to +75 °C during use and up to +100 °C in storage.

Lexar also confirmed these drives have passed compatibility tests with various electric vehicles and cars powered by alternative energy sources. They support plug-and-play connectivity, though some vehicle infotainment systems may require reformatting. Each drive carries a one-year limited warranty and meets Lexar’s internal automotive-grade reliability standards.

The 512GB model is priced at 779 yuan (around $112), while the 1TB version goes for 1,419 yuan (approximately $205).
