Google Play has named the best apps and games of 2025

Google Play has traditionally summarized the year and announced the winners of the Best of 2025 — the best Android apps and games of the outgoing year.
Despite the industry’s obsession with artificial intelligence, the winner in the «Best App» category was Focus Friend by Hank Green. It’s a «cozy gamified focus timer» that combines the functionality of a distraction-fighting tool with the ambience of a Tamagotchi. The app helps you focus on tasks, turning the process into an easy game.
The title of «Best Game of 2025» went to Pokémon TCG Pocket — a mobile adaptation of the popular collectible card game. The project offers classic gameplay with an emphasis on sleek new card designs and built-in booster packs.
Google also honored apps and games for devices across form factors separately. The best multiplatform app was Luminar — an advanced photo editor with AI features designed to compete with Google Photos and Photoshop. In the «Best Game for Multiple Devices» category was Disney Speedstorm — an arcade map racer featuring Disney characters and locations.
