Vivo has released a new teaser of its foldable X Fold 5 smartphone
By ForGeeks Vivo has started actively teasing the public with teasers of its upcoming foldable smartphone, the X Fold 5. Today, Vivo’s China product manager Han Bosiao published an official video showing off the design of the new product. The video ends with a caption stating that the X Fold 5 will set a new record for lightness and thinness among foldable devices.
According to the teaser and the latest leaks, the X Fold 5 will indeed be lighter than its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 3, which weighs 219 grams. The new model, according to XpertPick, will weigh just 209 grams. When unfolded, the smartphone will be 4.3mm thick and 9.33mm thick when folded.
The X Fold 5 could thus be the lightest foldable smartphone in the world. For comparison, the Oppo Find N5 weighs 229 grams and is 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm thick when folded. Even so, Honor’s Magic V5, which is expected to debut this month, could take away the title of thinnest foldable smartphone, rumored to be about 8mm thick when folded.
When it comes to performance, the Oppo Find N5 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with seven cores, while the Honor Magic V5 will use a standard version of the same chip. The Vivo X Fold 5, on the other hand, will get the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. With this in mind, there is a chance that the device will be priced cheaper than its competitors from Oppo and Honor. According to a Digital Chat Station insider, the Vivo X Fold 5 will be officially announced as early as June in China. The company will also unveil the Vivo Pad 5e tablet and the Vivo TWS Air 3 Pro headphones at the same event.
The Vivo Pad 5e tablet is rumored to get a 12.1-inch LCD display and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The rest of the device’s specs haven’t been revealed yet.
