Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 owners will get an exclusive RTX 50 feature
Nvidia is once again pleasantly surprising. When the RTX 50 series graphics cards were released, many expected the new technologies to remain exclusive to this generation, forcing users to upgrade for advanced features. However, the company has already proven otherwise by extending support for improved DLSS to the RTX 40 series. Now, owners of last year’s graphics cards will get another feature – Smooth Motion.

Nvidia will add Smooth Motion to the RTX 40 and 50
.
According to Dark Side of Gaming, a new update to the Nvidia App has introduced a Smooth Motion setting. This technology is similar to AMD’s similar tool, Fluid Motion, which provides smoother frame movement in games and video.

For now, only owners of RTX 50 cards can activate the feature, which initially sparked rumors of exclusivity. However, Nvidia has officially clarified the situation:
“NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a new driver technology that takes extra time to test and verify compatibility with different devices. Support for GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards will be added in a future update.”

When to expect RTX 40 support?
The company isn’t revealing an exact timeline. It all depends on how well the technology works on newer cards before it’s adapted for RTX 40. For now, owners of older flagships can take comfort in the fact that even the RTX 4090 is still one of the most powerful graphics cards to compete with the newer cards.
