FlexPi: A flexible version of the Raspberry Pi Pico with RGB LED and USB-C is now on Kickstarter

The FlexPi project launched by TOP Gadgets on Kickstarter offers a brand new version of the Raspberry Pi Pico – now with a flexible PCB. This innovation allows the device to bend in any direction, making it much easier to fit into tight spaces and curved enclosures. The FlexPi is nearly identical to the original Pico board, but with a few improvements that make it even more convenient and functional.

FlexPi features and benefits

The FlexPi retains most of the features of the Raspberry Pi Pico, including the RP2040 microprocessor, 2MB of internal memory, and 26 GPIOs. But the new product adds a few distinctive features: a WS2812 programmable RGB LED and a USB Type-C connector instead of the standard microUSB. This flexible device supports power from 1.8V to 5.5V and is USB 1.1.

Compatible.

The standard version of the FlexPi is available on Kickstarter for $20 and includes three starter tutorials for the Raspberry Pi Pico, MicroPython, and Circuit Python. The board supports the same programming languages as the original, including MicroPython, Circuit Python, C, C++, and Arduino.

Funding and buyer cautions

The FlexPi team was only raising $500 to launch the project, but has already surpassed that threshold, raising over $5,000. However, like any project on Kickstarter, backing FlexPi is more of an investment in an idea than a guaranteed purchase of a finished product. Before investing, it’s important to keep in mind the risks associated with crowdfunding.

Be aware of the risks associated with crowdfunding.
