Death Stranding 2: trailer and release date

Hideo Kojima is gearing up to release the long-awaited sequel to Death Stranding. At SXSW 2025, Kojima Productions unveiled a new 10-minute trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which gives the most comprehensive look yet at the game.

Release date and pre-order bonuses

Death Stranding 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 as early as June 26. Pre-orders will start on March 17 at 10:00am local time. Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition will get early access to the game two days before the official release date.

What to expect from the sequel?

Death Stranding 2 takes place 11 months after the events of the original game and the creation of the United Cities of America. The trailer shows the return of familiar characters:

  • Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Bridges.
  • Léa Seydoux voices Frajayle.
  • Troy Baker returns to the role of Higgs.

In addition, the trailer introduces a host of new characters who will play an important role in the story.

A long-awaited release

The original Death Stranding came out in 2019, and its sequel was first announced in 2022. Last year, a 9-minute video was shown on PlayStation State of Play, and now fans have gotten an even more detailed look at the game. Death Stranding’s highly anticipated journey through the post-apocalyptic world of Death Stranding will continue this summer.
