Leica has launched the Sofort 2 instant print camera

Leica has finally released its second generation instant print camera, the aptly named Sofort 2 (“sofort” means “immediately” in German). The company has been developing it for about 7 years. The camera has a rather recognizable design and three color options: red, white and black.
The biggest improvement over the first Sofort is that it’s no longer just an instant-print camera. It’s now a hybrid digital camera with a 1/5-inch CMOS sensor that records 4.9 MP photos to a microSD card. Users can then choose which photos they want to print.
The Sofort is now a hybrid digital camera.

The Leica Sofort 2 is also a photo printer: you can send images captured on your phone to the device and print them out. You’ll need an 86×54mm Sofort mini color film.
The Sofort 2 has a 3-inch LCD display on the back and a menu similar to that found on Leica cameras.
On the front panel is a Leica Summar f/2 lens with a 28mm focal length. This is the same focal length as the popular Leica Q-series fixed-lens cameras. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 10cm. There is also a flash on the front panel, a key feature of the instant print camera.

The Leica Sofort 2 will go on sale on November 9 at a price of €389.
