Garmin unveils rugged Zumo XT3 motorcycle GPS loaded with rider-focused features

Garmin, best known for its smartwatches, is reminding everyone of its roots in navigation with the launch of the new Zumo XT3. While this GPS can double as a car navigator if needed, it’s built from the ground up for motorcycles. The device meets IPX7 water resistance and MIL-STD-810 military standards, designed to withstand the harsh vibrations and conditions that come with riding two wheels. Beyond ruggedness, the Zumo XT3 comes packed with features tailored specifically for riders.

One standout feature is its ability to display the bike’s lean angle, showing how aggressively a rider leans into corners. Group riding is also supported, letting users see the location of other riders on the screen. This requires either a cellular connection or compatible accessories that enable tracking without mobile service. For track day enthusiasts and racers, activating the Garmin Performance Package unlocks metrics like lap times, 0-100 km/h acceleration, and split times on various stretches.

Route planning can be done directly on the device or through Garmin’s dedicated mobile app, which simplifies finding scenic roads and routes tailored for motorcyclists. The app also makes it easy to search and create new routes on the fly.

The Garmin Zumo XT3 comes in two versions: a 4.7-inch screen model priced at 9, and a 6-inch display variant costing 9. Both options feature TFT touchscreens that remain highly readable even under bright sunlight. Preorders for the new devices will open starting February 20.
