Computex 2025: HP unveils affordable OmniBook 5 notebooks powered by Snapdragon chips

HP announced an updated series of OmniBook 5 notebooks with Qualcomm ARM processors. The new products were part of a presentation at Computex 2025 and represent the company’s first attempt to bring Snapdragon chips into the sub-$1000 price segment. Unlike the premium OmniBook X models, the new devices are aimed at the masses, but retain the key advantages of the ARM architecture.

The series includes two models: a 14-inch variant priced from $799 and a 16-inch model starting at $849. Both configurations get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X and X Plus chips, designed specifically for Windows devices with a focus on power efficiency, performance, and tight integration with artificial intelligence features.

OmniBook 5 laptops now with Copilot+ and up to 34 hours of battery life

The key differentiator for HP’s new laptops is support for Microsoft’s Copilot+ platform. This means users will have access to all the AI features in Windows 11: Recall for intelligent action-based search, Click-to-Do for quick task completion, and an updated search interface with contextual understanding.

Despite its more affordable status, the OmniBook 5 doesn’t skimp on the basic features of the older models. The screen is OLED with 2K resolution, high contrast, and extended color gamut. According to the manufacturer, the devices are able to work up to 34 hours on a single charge. Fast charging is supported: up to 50% in 30 minutes.

To expand your workspace, there are options to connect external displays – one 5K or two 4K displays. This makes the notebook a convenient solution for both office and mobile multimedia work.

A Emphasis on sound, video and video connectivity

The OmniBook 5 models get an improved video communication system. A built-in 1080p camera with an IR sensor provides accurate image transmission and the ability to use facial recognition. The Audio Boost 2.0 platform with AI noise filtering significantly improves audio quality for calls and video conferencing.

Some attention has been paid to cooling and comfort. Even under heavy load, the devices remain quiet and don’t overheat, which is especially important for compact, slimline models.

Release dates and availability

The new products will first be available on Amazon and Microsoft’s online store in June. In July, the 14-inch version will be available on HP’s official website, as well as at Best Buy and Costco. The larger 16-inch version will go on sale at the same time, but will be distributed only through HP and its partners.

This marks the first time HP is offering a full-fledged ARM notebook with advanced AI features at a price below $1,000, making the technology available to a wider audience.
