ROX and Weiqiao set up a lab to create new SUVs

At the Auto Shanghai 2025 international exhibition, ROX Motor unveiled a new lightweight SUV designed to reduce structural weight and improve energy efficiency. At the same time, it announced a plan to release new models every year from 2025 to 2027.
Collaboration with Weiqiao Pioneering Group
Weiqiao Pioneering Group, one of the world’s largest aluminum producers and developer of innovative materials, has become a technology partner of ROX Motor. As part of this cooperation, a joint Weiqiao-ROX Motor laboratory was opened in Suzhou. Its mission is to accelerate the research and implementation of new technologies in the production of light vehicles.
Weiqiao Pioneering Group is one of the largest aluminum producers in the world.

The lab focuses on developing body structures and components, as well as creating smart manufacturing solutions based on Weiqiao’s WQAL alloys. In the long term, ROX Motor plans to increase the share of aluminum in vehicle construction to 50%.

Manufacturing Strategy
ROX Motor has announced the release of one new SUV model per three years, from 2025 to 2027. This approach should ensure that the product lineup is constantly updated and adapts to changing market demands.

The collaboration between ROX Motor and Weiqiao began in 2023. At that time, Weiqiao invested US$1 billion in the project. These funds are used to develop platforms, integrate new materials and optimize production processes.

ROX Motor plans to strengthen its market position by 2030 as a manufacturer of new energy-powered vehicles targeting the outdoor and non-urban segment.
