Robomart delivery robot promises $3 delivery with no tips or surcharges

Los Angeles-based startup Robomart has unveiled an autonomous electric vehicle RM5 that could seriously change the grocery delivery market. With no driver, the company claims to be able to reduce costs by up to 70% compared to traditional services.

How RM5 works
The RM5 is a compact “locker on wheels” with 10 individual cells. It is capable of:
- visit several stores in one trip,
- deliver orders to different customers,
- while charging the user a flat fee of only $3 per delivery
In comparison, UberEats and DoorDash are typically more expensive due to service fees and tips. Robomart emphasizes: No surcharges, service fees or tips will be required.

The Speed Advantage
Unlike other delivery robots that move slowly on sidewalks or bicycle lanes, the RM5 is designed to travel on city streets at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour (40 km/h). This should shorten delivery times and make the process more convenient for customers.
