Perplexity launched Labs, OpenAI’s Deep research counterpart

Perplexity has introduced Labs, a new tool for bringing ideas to life quickly. The service is available starting today for Perplexity Pro subscribers.
Labs extends the platform’s capabilities to create reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and even simple web applications. The tool accomplishes tasks in 10 minutes that previously required days, complex research, and cross-functional coordination. In doing so, Labs builds on Perplexity’s key advantage of accurate answers to help you make more informed decisions.
Perplexity’s key strength is its ability to help you make better decisions.
Perplexity Labs offers new features for Pro users

Perplexity Labs works as an entire team, taking on projects of any complexity, from marketing campaigns and financial analysis to weekly menu planning. You can write and run code in Labs to manipulate data, create tables, charts, text, and other documents. All created files are neatly stacked in the “Assets” section, from where they can be easily downloaded.
In addition, Labs lets you develop simple web applications right within the platform’s interface. This means users can create dashboards, slideshows, and websites without third-party tools.
Labs also allows users to create simple web applications right in the platform’s interface.
Differences between Labs and Deep Research mode
Labs is designed to be more in-depth and comprehensive, taking 10 minutes or more to complete. In comparison, Deep Research mode (now abbreviated as Research) offers answers to complex questions in 3-4 minutes. Labs includes additional tools for creating files, running code, generating graphs, and working with images.

Perplexity notes that Labs is suited for bringing complex ideas to life, while Research is suited for quickly finding and analyzing information.
How to get started with Labs
To get started with Labs, you need to select this mode in the selector on the input panel in the web version, as well as in the iOS and Android apps (Mac and Windows support will come later). For inspiration and examples, you can check out the updated project gallery on Perplexity’s website, or try implementing any task on your to-do list.
