Xiaomi 17 could be unveiled on September 30

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new flagship. According to industry sources, the launch of theXiaomi 17 series in China could take place as early as September 30, although there is no official confirmation of the date yet.
Xiaomi president Lu Weibin said he will hold a live broadcast on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. Beijing time, where he will answer questions about the new lineup, including the reasons for skipping the «16».
Three models in the lineup
Xiaomi is expected to release three versions: Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
- Xiaomi 17 / 17 Pro: both devices will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which includes two performance cores (4.61GHz) and six power-efficient cores (3.63GHz). In Geekbench tests, the smartphone scored 3096 points in single-core mode and 9382 points in multi-core mode.
- It will come with 16GB of RAM and a proprietary HyperOS 3 shell based on Android 16.
Magic Back Screen and Leica cameras
The Pro models will feature a new rear display Magic Back Screen built into the camera unit. It replaces the familiar «island» and can display clocks, avatars or GIF animations. The screen is also used as a viewfinder for selfies, a control panel for «smart home» and quick shortcuts.
- Xiaomi 17 Pro: triple system — 50 MP main sensor (f/1.67), 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP telephoto lens with five times optical zoom (f/3.0).
- Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: similar system, but with a brighter zoom lens (f/2.6).
